Privatization and the Welfare State critically examines current views and research on the significance and impact of privatization in public sector organizations, consumers, government and the workforce. The book takes the form of a general 'reader' but it is not simply descriptive or prescriptive. Instead, each topic/chapter provides a snapshot of a particular organization at a specific point in time and includes a review of related literature and research findings, empirical studies and case material that serves to illuminate the area. Also included are examples of problems and conflicts inherent in the move to privatization.
