Flying with a broken wing

Cammie Deveau is visually impaired, her mother abandoned her at birth, and her father was a casualty of the Second World War. Now she is being raised by a bootlegging aunt. Cammie dreams of starting a new life, and longs to attend a school for blind and impaired children in Halifax.
