Meet Lance, a pit bull mix who had a rough start in life. His first people wanted him to be a fighter, but Lance had other ideas. He took one look at the teeth of the dog they wanted him to fight and ran! Since his escape from dog fighting, Lance has been befriended by Ms. Jenaia, joined the CritterKin pack, and found a new family. In his new home, he has plenty of food, lots of love and a surprising job. He must find a way to win the trust of the family's youngest member and help her overcome her fear of school. In the process, Lance has some hard lessons of his own to learn about stereotypes and prejudice.
