Reuniting the masters

Reuniting the Masters: European Drawings from West Coast Collections' brings together master drawings that, once they departed the artist's studio, passed from hand to hand over centuries and continents, to find their home in public collections in California and Oregon. Created for the same project or sketchbook, many of the pairs of drawings in this exhibition show the artist's process in detail, while other pairings demonstrate the range of artists' work in time or genre. Their stories reveal much about the unique history of collecting and scholarship in the West over 150 years, from patrons such as E.
