Written by one of the family that owned the major French seed merchants at the time and including 100s of superb line drawings, this is a fascinated guide to the varieties of vegetables available in late 19th Century Europe. Though it include guidance on growing vegetables, the decription of the varieties of each vegetable, often with detailed line drawings, are the best part of this book. Where else would you find descriptions of over 60 types of squash available in 1885?
