This volume consists of essays in honour of Professor E.B. Ford. For the most part the chapters are devoted to the study of polymorphism and polygenic variation in plants and animals, the influence of natural selection theron and the evolutionary consequences. Other than some more general aspects of polymorphism, topics covered include genetics in relation to disease and its treatment in Man, mimicry and its evolution in the Lepidoptera melanism in moths and ladybirds, chromosome polymorphism in drosophia, variation in the size , colour and banding of snails, the adaptation of plants to extreme environments and the place of Ecological Genetics in biology teaching.
