The first ever monograph dealing with Czech literature published in the diaspora during the second stage of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia (1971-1989) when liberal authors from the 1960s were banned in their home country and could only bring out their work in samizdat (typewritten copies) or in the emigré publishing houses abroad.
