After September 8, 1943, Bassano del Grappa, Veneto, becomes a hub of Repubblica Sociale Italiana and a very important joint military. Within this city, the diary of Lino Camonico records with freshness and immediacy all the torment and the daily uncertainties of an entire generation that had grown up in the middle of the Fascist regime and its meticulous indoctrination and is forced to choose which side they are: fascists or Resistance.
