As a sea captain, Alex Adamley would rather go down with his ship than survive it. Although his attackers save his life, he loses his arm - and his passion for the sea. So he decides to cross the great American landscape with nothing but the clothes on his back, the past close behind and a family deed to an old Colorado mining claim. But some people out West aren't so happy to see new faces and they've misjudged his mild nature for an easy target. They're willing to do anything to get their hands on his deed. What they don't know is that Alex has lost enough already and the more trouble they make, the more he fights back - because nothing is going to stop him from staking his claim.
