Ordering at Surfaces and Interfaces

This volume, the proceedings of the third in a series of symposia on fundamental approaches to new material phases, dicusses ordering properties and their underlying mechanisms at surfaces and interfaces. It summarizes the present status of the field and indicates likely directions for future progress. The individual topics treated include: - surface reconstruction of semiconductors and metals - atomic and magnetic ordering at interfaces - theoretical tools - ordering in adsorbate-surface systems - effects of electronic current on semiconductor surfaces - STM results.
