This book tells the story of what life was like for cricketers in Victorian Auckland. It is the first in a series of histories about Auckland cricket. The history focuses on the people involved through photos, sketches, and pen portraits. There are some amazing stories in the book. The history contains full score cards of every representative match played by Auckland between 1860 and 1901 as well as score cards and reports of local club matches dating from as early as 1842. It also traces the origins of the modern day clubs and the Auckland Cricket Association. The research is all sourced from the original documents and newspapers and many quotations originate from those sources.
