the long version
A very nice little 37 page booklet by Basil J Bradford who it was my pleasure to know while I was serving as a cadet in Dudley Borough Police. Like it says on the cover it is a personal account and history from inception to end of this small police force of around 100 men with a number of rare and interesting photographs. Basil retired from Dudley Police a few years before it was amalgamated into The West Midlands Constabulary in 1966. Basil attained the rank of Inspector in charge of the traffic and communications department. Basil's son Nick was a cadet at the same time as me and upon my moving on in 1976 Nick was serving as a sergeant at Brierley Hill. All in all a very nice and nostalgic booklet for anyone who served or was associated with Dudley Borough Police. A real collectors item. Syd Goring 2012. ([email protected])
