Timberline

Summarizes how and why timberlines developed in mountain and arctic regions of North America. Part one reviews and discusses environmental and biological factors important in determining the position, structure and species composition of timberlines. Part two is a survey of timberline regions with a focus on North America. Chapter 8 (p.238-46) covers the arctic - Alaska and Yukon, Mackenzie District, north central and northeastern Canada.
