The Farmer's World

The present book consists of articles on farming that have not been previously published, languishing in anonymity until brought together here by the Richard Jefferies Society. They appeared originally in The Live stock journal and Fancier's gazette, week-by-week at the very end of the 1870s, over various by-lines and signatures. Jefferies's writing style is usually distinctive but in many cases the conclusive evidence that he was the author was finding the publisher's pay-slips -- introduction.
