the long version

This is a book that I hated to put down and go to bed! Alexander Smellie had such a mind as to keep one's interest from page one clear through to the last page. I am no theologian, but I can see that he was, and that he dealt with matters that are educational in the perusal of the book. He covers the important literature of the period and gives us an insight into the depths of learning. His own choice of words is like honey to the mouth, and his choice of quotes from Luther and Melanchthon are like peaches and cream. I could not help but take notes of the great things in this book, and yet, I had to bypass so much! You will never regret the time you have spent with Dr. Smellie as he gives us much to think about.
