Andrea Henderson, now a single mother, has moved to Moses Lake with her adolescent son, Dustin, who seems drawn to trouble. Andrea's new job as a social worker is hard enough, but her clients are scattered throughout a rugged terrain. Game warden Mart McClendon is in charge of Moses Lake and the surrounding area. He first meets Andrea when he catches Dustin doing dangerous stunts at the lake with his new buddies.
