This book presents an overview of some of the underlying dynamic and psychodynamic issues which affect information and the information worker. It includes chapters on the relationships between these theories and information, the current state of information management, and career patterns and choices. It talks about the impact that buildings, organizations, marketing, and future developments, including some of the technology, have and will have on information workers. The book focuses on how the psychodynamic issues and their expression through behaviour, organizational patterns, and work behaviours can be managed effectively. It aims to provide an understanding of this dynamic, between the 'external' or outside world of the information worker, and the 'internal' or personal world. A clear understanding of these underlying issues will support the development of improved professional practice and aid the associated management of change.
