Piper Steele is struggling to stay afloat in the worst economic times since the Great Depression. Down to her last unemployment check, she turns for help to her neighborhood food bank where she befriends Arden, formerly a socialite, now a homeless widow who lives in her car. Piper invites Arden to sleep on her sofa. But Arden instead accepts a night job, where she is brutally murdered. Piper cannot accept the verdict of the police. Is Arden's death really just one more random act of violence against the homeless--or is it something even more vicious and sinister?
