This book/CD package describes the programs, how to find them, non-programming as well as programming utilities to aid the programmer, language-specific source code, environment-specific source code and language-independent source code. Chapters contain a mix of shareware, freeware and code that can accomplish specific tasks. The book includes communications and utility software necessary for the program, plus shareware editors, debuggers and other tools. It also covers freeware utilities, IBM-produced code to solve a number of programming problems and other freeware available on the network. The text is organized into 20 chapters describing each program, with each chapter broken into subsections. The first two chapters discuss options and how to get more software. The following chapters discuss other programs as well as those on the CD.
