David Rutland is a young artist. Police Inspector Moore wants his help. The police are trying to catch a forger called Sharp who steals famous paintings from museums and puts his own forgeries in their place. David goes to Switzerland and becomes Sharp's assistant. But it is dangerous work - and when he finds that Sharp is not only a great artist but also has a beautiful daughter, he begins to have moral problems too.
