Crime had the Texas Panhandle in a tight, bloody grip when the big stranger rode into the small town of Spit Junction. By the next morning Kid Buttercup was in jail for his part in a wild saloon brawl and the local bank had been robbed. Who had killed the bank's president and left him locked in the empty vault? There were suspects a-plenty, but very little evidence. This was the puzzle to be solved by the drifting stranger turned reluctant deputy, Kid Buttercup. Tensions mounted in Spit Junction until they finally exploded in a violent Panhandle showdown.
