the long version
This is an excellent "how to" book on adversity. The author's many bouts with adversity uniquely qualify her to encourage and instruct others in the fine art of walking through, and not around adversity. Through such trials as losing her first three babies, back injuries, multiple bilateral TMJ surgeries, financial reverses, numerous family illnesses, discrimination and unfair treatment at the pinnacle of power in Washington, DC, breast cancer surgery and treatment during the time she authored the book...she does not bow to depression or bitterness. This honest and poignant account clearly demonstrates the power of the human spirit to rise above life's trials. A "must read" for people who are walking through severe trials, you will laugh and cry with the author, but will come away with the courage to face your own struggles with the assurance that by God's help and grace, you too can overcome obstacles and have Joy In Adversity!
