In the years directly following the end of the Second World War, a number of artists from three small Northern European countries came together quite accidentally in Paris. Finding that they shared the same desires and ideals, they decided to join forces and form an artistic storm troop, blazing a trail to a new world. The group, which they named COBRA (an acronym of COpenhagen, BRussels and Amsterdam, the cities from which its founding members originated), was formed on 8 November 1948.--[from introduction].
