Retired Detective A.C. LaFleur is back in Oswego, New York, from a well-deserved winter in Florida. But as soon as he returns, his friend, nurse Maggie Malone, calls from the Syracuse burn ICU, with a request: a young girl has been severely burned in an apartment fire, and local authorities are slow to investigate. LaFleur's efforts to get at the truth lead him in unexpected directions, and he becomes a target of the arsonist.
