If you're a working kid in Cottoncroft and want to stay healthy, part of your pay goes to Froggy Flitcroft, small-time racketeer and boss of a gang called Push. Fed up with paying, Maisie Malin and her friends form Pull, an outfit pledged to defy Froggy and his gang. Trouble is, Push can call on the services of adult thugs as well as kids, and things go badly for Pull. When Flitcroft gets involved in a new, sinister racket, Pull gets one chance to topple him, but it's extremely risky. Suggested level: secondary.
