Corisande Gilroy was engaged to the most wonderful man in the world - her handsome, debonair Martin Ashley - and now they planned to share a few days' holiday in Madeira at the end of Martin's present business trip. Corrie longed for the day when she would travel to that beautiful sunlit island, rush to Martin's hotel room and throw herself into his arms. But when Corrie arrived, there was no Martin waiting to greet her. His room was empty; his suitcase only half unpacked. As time passed, Corrie's bewildered anxiety changed to fear.
