The group, which includes an elf, a wizard, a Halfling, and a woman (but not your "freakin' damsel in distress," as she puts it), discovers powers they never knew existed - plus Instant Messaging, a full three hundred years before the Internet ever existed, mind you - and becomes a team to be reckoned with.
