Now, Doc McReynolds, a military surgeon who fought his way out of a bloody killing field, has been ordered to establish a redoubt at Cimarron Crossing. But while McReynolds leads his company to Deep Hole Creek, a past he'd like to forget dogs his every step. The good Doc knows he can't outrun it, just like he can't avoid the battle awaiting him.
