But Democrat candidate Teddy Lodge, an upcoming media sweetheart, isn't killed. His wife is. As a result of this tragedy, Lodge emerges as the man to beat. Incumbent President Morgan Taylor realizes that it will take a miracle to stop Lodge from becoming president. The miracle comes from a surprising source, Secret Service Agent Scott Roarke, and the source of the miracle is even more surprising - and deadly - than Taylor's worst nightmare.
