It contains a close study of the content and public reception of the anti-Christian literature of the nineteenth century associated with the names G. W. Foote and J. W. Gott, the Freethinker and The Truth-seeker, as well as an informed analysis of attempts to extend and repeal the blasphemy law during this century.
