Thelma and Angelo are the only tenants left in their old building on the Upper West Side of New York. The landlord, who wants the building emptied for a major real estate deal, has already harassed the other eighteen residents into leaving. And as the persecution escalates from imported cockroach infestations to muggings, Thelma and Angelo are about ready to give up too. Then the feisty righter-of-wrongs, Margaret Binton, takes up their cause = recruiting a rag-tag band of neighbourhood seniors into the fray, forcing the landlord out of his safe corporate anonymity.
