When Gwyneth married Van Onslie she thought she had buried the past, finally and irrevocably. She had believed her mother's statement that the child she had had secretly after her brief, tragic bigamous marriage was dead! Only when it was too late to draw back did she find that her little boy was still alive - and at an orphanage of which Gwyneth's new husband was a trustee. What could Gwyneth do? She could never now disclose the whole story to Van.
