Nome Ogrodni is forced into the wild Outlands seeking money to save his ancestral home. He finds fortune in the service of a dangerous man, who guarantees either success or death. Nome fails the man and loses almost all. Ravenna Rosealice enters with her own story, losing all and fleeing abduction.
