After marrying handsome, rich Lloyd Massie, Bella thought she was the luckiest woman in London. Until Bella begins to think that Lloyd might not be the kind, loving man with whom she first fell in love. Detective sergeant Douglas Unwin also suspects that Massie is not the man he claims to be. He believes Bella's husband is connected to at least one murder, if not more, but with all of London's police caught up in the hunt for Jack the Ripper, Unwin lacks the official resources needed to pursue Lloyd.
