A year after Emma's marriage to Knightley, she is still living at Hartfield, and although content with married life, she is restless. When tragedy takes her to London, her life and marriage open up to new and exciting possibilities. Following on from the Jane Austen novel, the story is picked up one year on with Emma still sharing a house with her father. However, when a tragedy occurs outside the family, Emma finds a visit to London opens her eyes to a wider view of the world.
