Helen and Hugh Kendall's pottery business is doing badly. So is their marriage - Hugh is having an affair with the new designer, Maureen Bradley. Under the pressure, Helen moves out and falls ill. Oblivious to this, Hugh goes with Maureen to Australia, ostensibly on a business trip. Helen plumbs new depths of depression until her flagging ego is restored by businessman Geoff Rowland. An enlightened Hugh returns from Australia to find Helen in hospital. But can things ever be the same again?
