"The history of Matawan and Aberdeen from their humble beginnings over 300 years ago to the turn of the twenty-first century is briefly told herein. ... the histories of Aberdeen Township and Matawan Borough have been intricately entwined. Although for much of their existence the township and the borough shared the same name, each has its own unique character.
