the long version
Joe Gall hated interruptions. Especially when he was happily doing nothing at his fabulous Ozark mountain retreat. Now someone with an attaché case chained to his wrist was banging at the gates. Gall's boss had sent the man. Gall unlocked the gates and studied the blue-backed documents. It seems that some psycho killer in Northern Ireland was mass murdering on his own. Over fifty very weird assassinations with the victims left the same way. Each with a bullet in the brain and hood over the head. The worst of it was that the suspect was an American. And not just any American. But the son of a highly placed cabinet official. Joe's job was to go to Ireland and bring out the son of a big wheel before he could do any more damage. In effect, to rescue him. It was the first time Gall had ever been asked to handle an assassin like a fragile Easter egg.
