The non-profit-making United Service Organizations have catered for the special needs of America's transient military personnel and their families since 1941. It has provided services ranging from canteen refreshments to an all-star shows, in many parts of the world. This official photographic record is a celebration of 50 years of American history and popular culture, involving entertainers such as Marilyn Monroe, Sammy Davis Jr, John Wayne, James Stewart, Elizabeth Taylor, Danny Kaye and Bob Hope. The book is offered as a tribute and a memorial to the millions whom the USO has served, and to the organization that has served them.
