Cathy Galliani wakes in hospital, after a car accident, to learn that her husband Vittorio is dead and her stepchildren are with his family in Italy. She is visited in hospital by Dan Kirby, a witness to the accident. Cathy travels to Italy to see the children, but when Dan follows her he ends up in hospital himself.
