David Gordon Lyon

David Gordon Lyon was a theologian and Assyriologist. He kept a detailed diary of his life and work, which is now a historical source. Lyon was a professor at Harvard Divinity School from 1882-1921, where he taught Hebrew and other Oriental languages. Lyon was born in Benton, Alabama. He received his AB from Howard College (now Samford University) and his PhD in Syriac from the University of Leipzig.
