Born in village urapar,district nawanshehar (Doaba) of Punjab in india , Kamaljit singh was the 5th son of Sardar Beant Singh and Harbans kaur , a family dependent on farming. Struggling with school fee and the work at farms, he completed his B.A. Honours from Sikh National College,Banga and Journolism Degree from Punjabi Uni., patiala.
