Raised by southern parents on military bases in the Philippines, the southern U.S. and Wiesbaden, Germany, this author was such a bad student he wound up 19 1/2 and 1-A in 1968, got drafted, and spent 21+ months in Southeast Asia (Udorn and Takhli, Thailand, and Danang, Vietnam).
