John Charles Day

Sir John Charles Frederick Sigismund Day was born at the Hague, the son of Captain John Day and his wife Emilie (née Hartsinck). He completed his schooling at Downside, and, prevented from attending the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge by his Catholic faith, attended the University of London, where he obtained his B.A. in 1845.
