Nina Douglas-Hamilton

Nina Mary Benita Poore was born in Salisbury, England, the daughter of Major Robert Poore and Juliana Benita Lowry-Corry. In 1901, she married Alfred Douglas Douglas-Hamilton, 13th Duke of Hamilton, and became Nina Douglas-Hamilton, Duchess of Hamilton. In 1912, she founded the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Vivisection, which went on to become Advocates for Animals.
